January 28, 2026 – Indivisible North County, San Diego organized a “Stop the Insanity” protest at Oceanside Civic Center on Wednesday at 4 PM. The event called for the protection of immigrant rights, an end to deportations, and shutting down ICE.
Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Civic Center before marching to the intersection of North Coast Highway and Pier View Way for a peaceful demonstration. Protesters lined all four corners of the intersection holding signs and raising their voices with anti-ICE chants. The protesters received encouragement in the form of thumbs-up and honking horns from vehicles passing by during rush hour.
Volunteers in bright safety vests kept the protest on the sidewalks to prevent traffic delays. During red lights at the intersection, the volunteers guided small groups of protesters across the street to rotate the messaging and maximize exposure to passers-by.
After an hour at the intersection, the protest moved back to the Civic Center courtyard for a 30-minute rally with speakers using bullhorns to call for action and lead protesters in more chants.
Attendees interviewed by Mediafactore described their concern for neighbors, disgust over the violent tactics of ICE, and disapproval of the authoritarian actions of the current administration.
