March 8, 2026 – Protesters gathered outside the California Center for the Arts where City Council member Joe Garcia was attending a Mariachi festival. Garcia was one of the Escondido MAGA 4 who ignored constituents and refused to cancel a contract allowing ICE to use the city’s firing range.

Citizens of the majority Latino city in Southern California took exception to the failure of Deputy Mayor Garcia and fellow Latino council member Christian Garcia to put the welfare of their constituents first. Several of those interviewed during the protest vowed to lead movements to oust all four of the GOP council members who upheld the contract with ICE at the next election.
